Program Information
The Hattiesburg Youth Soccer Association(HYSA) Division 3 program is also called the Recreational Program. This Division is designed for everyone who wants to play soccer. The HYSA Recreational program forms its teams through the use of the MSA sanctioned computer picked random format. This form of team selection properly weights teams based off of actual participants ages and playing experience in an effort to create a level playing field for teams formed. THe HYSA Recreational coaches are all volunteered, however are required to have a minimum level of licensing as required by Mississippi Soccer Association (MSA). HYSA partners with the City of Hattiesburg's Parks and Recreation Department to offer a quality recreational program for the City of Hattiesburg.
Recently, HYSA has worked with the Petal Youth Sports Association (PYSA) and Sumrall to aid in the forming of the Petal and Sumrall Subpool. This subpool request was approved by MSA. PYSA is currently working on expanding its current Dixie Park location to equip for more activities to be held. Current needs for the PYSA Dixie Park location are vast, but the majority of the efforts are currently focused on bringing lights to the park. HYSA feels it is crucial to work with PYSA to help bring soccer to more people who might otherwise not play because of the distance to tatum park from outlying areas.
